Q. How often do I wear my aligners?
A. You must wear your Invisalign aligners for up to 22 hours a day. You may remove them for eating, drinking, and regular oral hygiene.
Q. Are there any restrictions to what I can eat while undergoing treatment?
A. No. Because Invisalign aligners are removable, unlike with braces, you can eat whatever you want during treatment as long as you remove the aligners beforehand. Note: prior to placing the aligners back into your mouth after a meal, it is important that you atleast rinse your mouth well. Brushing twice every day is highly recommended.
Q. Will wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech?
A. Like any orthodontic treatment appliance, there is a short adjustment period. The more you speak with your Invisalign aligners on, the quicker you will adjust to them.
Q. Is there any discomfort with Invisalign treatment?
A. There will be some pressure and minor discomfort for a day or two after each initial insertion of a new Invisalign aligner. This is a sign that your teeth are moving closer to their final position.
Q. Can I chew gum?
A. Yes, but your orthodontist recommends that you remove your Invisalign aligners prior to chewing gum, as the gum will stick to the aligners. And remember that keeping your aligners out for chewing gum may mean that your aligners are not being worn for the recommended 22 hours a day.
