Initial Introductions & Examination
During your first visit, we will help you get acquainted with our North Scarborough office and staff, and inform you about the basic processes of orthodontic treatment.
We understand that every patient's orthodontic treatment is different, because every person’s smile is different. As such, we work hard to treat every patient on an individual basis, creating comprehensive, customized treatment plans that achieve great dental health and confident smiles. We promise to give you the personalized attention you deserve.
Accordingly, your first visit will consist of an initial clinical examination and a discussion of your potential treatment options. This important visit will allow our orthodontist to determine if this is the right time to begin treatment, and what types of braces you might be best suited for.
Questions We’ll Address
During your first visit, we encourage you to ask any questions you may have about orthodontic treatment. Some questions that we will be sure to address include:
- Do I have an orthodontic issue that requires treatment?
- Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption, or other factors have occurred?
- What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
- Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
- How long will orthodontic treatment take?
- How much will it cost?
- What are my payment options?
The Consultation
After we have evaluated your records, we will conduct a treatment consultation to explain all aspects of your orthodontic treatment in detail. We will provide a complete and comprehensive diagnosis regarding the nature of your problem, a written summary of the findings, and a detailed plan that outlines your treatment, goals, and estimated fees. We encourage questions from patients and parents, and as such, we provide ample time to answer them.
Open Communication
We believe that good orthodontic care begins with open communication. Dr. Markin and his skilled staff promise to speak candidly with you about your diagnosis and our recommendations, any alternative treatments, and any symptoms present that may require further treatment.
